For the development of Rise & Fall, I served the role of Point Designer for the first few milestones of production. That meant working with the level’s Initiative Director to help plan out the level, coordinating and helping plan tasks for the other game designers, as well as hands on scripting of parts of the level. After the first few months of development, it was decided that this level would be the E3 demonstration level, featured at Sony’s E3 Press Conference in 2015. From then on I focused on scripting the plaza fight seen here.
Because this was one of the first moments of the game that was shown to the public, a lot of attention was paid on getting our big destructive set pieces just right. Here we can see an enemy Quadtank shoots near the player and destroys the giant statue in the center of the plaza. Later, the player uses their remote hijack ability to take control of the giant Quadtank. They shoot towards the cinema building, causing the entire facade to crumble. I worked closely with our talented artists and animators to plan out and execute these set pieces.
